With our Gypsy Vanner Horse Embryo Transfer Program, we’ve been able to share the wealth of our great foundation genetics with people all over the world.
If you’re looking for an affordable option to obtain the Vanner Horse of your dreams, consider our Embryo Transfer Program. We have 20 years of experience with this process, and can walk you through the procedure and help you plan your cross.
how it works
- You choose the sire and dam of your foal, subject to our approval of that genetic crossing.
- Once you’ve made your choice, we will breed the mare you’ve chosen to your selected stallion.
- At the appropriate time (~7 days later), we will flush the embryo, and then place it inside the uterus of a recipient mare or mule.
- At 60 days post confirmed pregnancy, the mare may be transferred to the location of your choice for her gestation period, which is approximately 11 months.
- You will be responsible for the transport, prenatal care throughout her pregnancy, and any professional foaling service.
- Once the foal is weaned, you will be responsible for shipping the mare/mule back to Ocala if you choose to care for her at your facility.
- We do offer an option to do an on-farm lease for your recipient mare/mule here at Gypsy Gold, and your foal will be ready to wean at 5-6 months of age.
- Foals here are handled weekly and trained to lead.
- After the foal is safely weaned, you can transport your Gypsy Vanner foal home, or to your boarding or training barn.
The Cost
A non-refundable deposit is the first step towards your ET foal.
Pricing is quoted upon request, but most embryos are $17,500 to $25,000, plus board and incidental care if you opt for the on-farm lease.
PAY OVER TIME: a deposit with monthly payments is available if you choose. The recipient mare must be boarded at Gypsy Gold through the payment period, or pay off the embryo early and keep the recipient mare at your facility to foal out.
It will take approximately 17 months for your foal to be carried, foaled out, and then weaned.
other considerations
We cannot guarantee the color or sex of your foal, however there is a new program allowing you to choose the sex of your foal for an additional $1,000 per cycle, with an 80% success rate.
